My take: Excellent bonus on a great card
The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is a great alternative to the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card for small business owners. It offers similar travel protections and you’ll actually earn more points on your travel—at least on up to $150,000 you spend on travel during the year. And it offers a much larger welcome bonus.
It’s interesting to see how the bonus on the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card has evolved over the years, and that history might tell us something about whether there might be a bigger bonus on this card at some point in the future.
The spending requirement to earn this bonus used to be a lot higher. In 2023, Chase dropped the spending requirement from $15,000 down to $8,000 for the standard bonus, putting it within reach for many more people. Since then, there are been a few increased offers, featuring 100k or even 120k bonus points. Those offers ran for a few months and are no longer available.
That said, I’d be willing to speculate that we’ll see a larger bonus on this card some time in 2025. If you’re willing to wait and hold out hope for an additional 10,000 points, you might be able to get a better bonus later this year. Of course
In-branch offer: Matches the online 90k offer
On January 13, 2025, we verified that the bonus offered in-branch matches the online offer: Earn 90,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
In-branch welcome offers change from time to time and this information is accurate as of our last check. The in-branch offer may be different or may no longer be available.
Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card Referral offer: Earn some points for your friend
Chase allows Ink cardmembers to refer others to Chase Ink cards and earn points when someone they refer gets approved for a card. When we last checked on November 18, 2024, the referral offer for the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card was the same bonus as Chase was offering online through other channels and in-branch.
But even though you won’t get any more points for the sign-up bonus, applying through a referral link can be a great way to help out a fellow small business owner. When you apply through someone’s referral link they can earn points if you are approved.
Chase will match sign-up bonuses
In our experience, Chase will match a current increased welcome bonus if you applied for the same card, through the same channel in the past 30 days. If you applied with this card within the past 30 days under a less-attractive sign-up bonus, you can likely get the newer, better bonus matched by calling Chase customer service.
Keep in mind that Chase typically will only match sign-up bonuses in the same channel. For example, if you applied online, you are unlikely to get your bonus matched to an in-branch exclusive offer.
