Citi Strata Premier℠ Card sign-up bonus: 75k point limited time offer

December 24, 2024: The limited-time sign-up bonus on the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card is still going strong. For the last few months, Citi has been offering a limited-time increased offer on this card.

Here’s what you need to know about the Strata Premier limited-time offer:

Best welcome offer: Get 75k ThankYou Points

Annual fee: annual_fees

This bonus is earned as Citi ThankYou® Points. With the Strata Premier, ThankYou Points can be redeemed for 1 cent of cash back each, or transferred to various travel transfer partners.

My take: 75k is the largest bonus you’re likely to see

When the bonus was 70,000 points I said “it is likely that this bonus will revert to 60,000 points when Citi decides to pull the card’s limited-time offer.” Well, I was wrong. So, read my take on this card with a huge grain of salt.

The Citi Strata Premier℠ is an essential part of the Citi ThankYou® Points ecosystem, as it is the only card that allows point transfers to most travel partners. (The Strata Premier replaced the Citi Premier® Card and current cardmembers are being converted over to the new card.) That said, if you are interested in Citi ThankYou® Points, now is the time to get this card’s sign-up bonus.

I do think that the 75,000 point bonus is the largest bonus you’re likely to see on this card for the foreseeable future.

Be aware if you had the Citi Premier® card within the last 48 months you can’t get this bonus. Most Citi cards only allow you to earn a bonus once every 48 months, but the Citi Strata Premier℠ offer’s terms and conditions specifically exclude you from eligibility if you’ve earned a bonus on the Citi Premier® Card within 48 months.

My verdict: If you’re interested in the ThankYou® Points ecosystem, now is the best time to get this card.

Eligibility: Can you earn the bonus

In the past few years, Citi simplified the rules for earning sign-up bonuses across all of its ThankYou® Points cards. Generally, you can earn a bonus on a card again if you have not received a bonus on the same product in the previous 48 months.

The Strata Premier comes with the additional condition: You can’t have received a bonus on either the Citi Strata Premier or the Citi Premier (the previous version of the card) within the last 48 months.

Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi Premier® or Citi Strata Premier account in the past 48 months

Citi Strata Premier bonus terms and conditions

One small detail to be aware of is that the requirements say that you can not have received a bonus within the past 48 months. If you, for example, applied for and were approved for a Citi Premier card 51 months ago, took the full three months to earn the bonus, and then received a bonus the month after that, Citi might consider you ineligible because you received the bonus 47 months ago. If you’ve been a Citi Strata Premier or Citi Premier cardmember in the past, it might be worthwhile to review your account history to verify if/when you received a bonus.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Citi Premier® Card and the Citi Strata Premier℠?

The Citi Strata Premier℠ is essentially a re-launch of the Citi Premier® Card, though the Strata Premier is substantially better. In addition to the rewards and benefits of the old Premier card, the Strata Premier offers 10x points on hotels, car rentals, and attractions booked through CitiTravel.com as an ongoing bonus, adds a few travel insurance benefits, and earns 3x on EV charging.

How much is 75,000 ThankYou Points worth?

The 75,000 ThankYou Points you can get with the Citi Strata Premier℠ sign-up bonus are worth $750 when redeemed for cash back. But you can get more value from your points if you transfer them to travel partners and use them for travel redemptions.
