This offer matches the best public offer you’ll see online through the American Express website directly, through affiliate networks, and through other channels.

It is our policy to publish the best offers, so if something better pops up, we’ll update this link.

Are you eligible to earn the bonus?

With most cards, including The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card, you are not eligible to earn the bonus if you’ve ever had the card before. This includes any previous versions of the Blue Business Cash. This restrictive language has been known to be excluded in some “no lifetime language” offers, but these are usually targeted. We’ll republish this article if such no lifetime language articles ever become available again.

While this rule doesn’t seem to leave much to interpretation, Amex is known to allow you to earn a welcome bonus if it’s been a long time—usually around seven years—since you’ve had the card. Ultimately, whether you are eligible for the bonus is up to American Express.

Fortunately, American Express will tell you during the application process whether you’ll qualify to earn the bonus. If Amex determines that you are ineligible, you can withdraw your application with no harm to your credit score.

Targeted offers: (No longer available) $750 welcome bonus with no lifetime language

All information about non-affiliate offers on the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card was collected independently by cardsandpoints.com.

American Express occasionally sends out targeted offers to certain customers on the Blue Business Cash™ Card. In the past some of these offers have been massive, including a $750 welcome bonus in mid-2023.

Generally, you have only been able to get these offers if you were one of the customers targeted by American Express.

My take: Good small business card, but bonus is mediocre

I wouldn’t pick up this card solely for the welcome bonus. You can get welcome bonuses that require much less spending and much larger welcome bonuses elsewhere. Still, if you have a need for 2% cash back for your business on a limited amount of spending, the welcome bonus on this card is a nice perk.

Amex has recently started adding family language to its welcome bonus terms. Some cards won’t let you earn a welcome bonus if you’ve had that card or a related card previously. It’s worth noting that getting this welcome bonus will not exclude you from getting the bonus on The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express.

While Amex frequently changes the welcome offers available on some of its cards, the welcome bonus on the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card has remained unchanged for quite some time. You’re unlikely to get a larger bonus by waiting.

Bottom line: If this card makes sense for you, there’s no need to wait, but there are other cards that have more compelling welcome offers.

Bottom line: Relatively easy bonus for small business owners

Amex doesn’t often change up the publicly available bonus on this card—generally, you’ll only be able to get a larger bonus if you are targeted by Amex. If getting 2% cash back on a relatively small amount of small business spending is appealing to you, there’s little reason to wait for a better bonus on this card.
